I pictured my Grandmother sitting in a cozy chair this time of the year.I wonder now how did she do it? How many hours would a treasure like this take to create? Now discarded in a bin at GW for $1.99. I had to rescue it!

Christmas at GW starts early!

Christmas at GW is a year round celebration! Folks are always dumping off their decorations that fill up their closets,attic or garage. Otherwise we'd all be on the HOARDERS SHOW! These were both new and made in Italy.Priced at $6.99 and $8.99.  If you are thinking Christmas       decor GW should be your next stop.These would also make great gifts so it might be YOURS!                                           

Hermes Silk!

I stopped at the Hermes store at Heathrow Airport in July. I was just passing through London headed home from an amazing trip to France.
 Lyon, France is the silk capital! I had just taken a tour of the silk factory.  The silk in Lyon was no bargain. The prices at the Hermes store were also not in my budget! Those scarfs start at $350.00.

One week later I found my Hermes scarf in the $1.99 bin at GW in Raleigh. Now that's PERFECT!
Life is good!

Portmeirion

                  I bought the dishes in the UK while I was still employeed by American Airlines. Now, years later I pick up the cannisters at GW for $11.00! I was thrilled. I still love the pattern. 

Antique brass bed

Beautiful brass and wrought iron bed. Very unusual but it doesn't fit the space. I'm selling it for $375.00. If you love antiques you'll this. It looks like it was made for a Princess.Rails included,Full bed.Posted for more on Craigslist.

Ironstone platter

Another find! I'm back at it. This amazing platter has a few stories to tell. It came from GW for $2.99.Google ironstone and read on...RARE!  It's a treasure. My "designer" friend called to see if I would sell it....maybe,maybe not...who knows Santa may give it to her for Christmas.

Mirror,mirror on the Wall!

I bet I've bought a dozen mirrors this year. This is gone. Ali loved it and it's hanging in her townhome. She has most of the collection. We're thinking of doing a full wall in her half bat. The grouping is almost together.









This mirror has a wrought iron insert. It's lovely. I gave it to a friend for her birthday. It's hanging in her adorable garden house. Most mirrors came from Goodwill and were under $10.00

Perfect coffee table for the deck.

The seating area is now complete. Sometimes you don't know what you're looking for until you see it. There it was, my coffee table. I wanted it sturdy so I can throw my feet up at the end of the day! It's perfect. I threw on some more stain this AM so it can take the rain. GW, thanks...$20.00. It looks terrific when you add chocolate covered strawberries and a cup of coffee!

Fun on the Deck

The pillows, chargers and candle holder all such fun. The pillows were blue and brand new but I just wanted the forms for $1.39 a piece. I found the indoor/out door fabric at Mill Outlet.Chargers were $2.00 at GW. The vintage candlelabra was cream and now black! I'm loving my black and white this year!

I'm back!

I ran into a "thrift affair" follower today. She asked why no blogs?? I promised to post. Thanks Bea!
My deck furniture (from Craigslist) has now been painted black. It looks great! I decided to start collecting white vases and pitchers. Here's a few finds! The pitcher is an antique, amazing detail, $2.99.
The others were under $3.00 - $8.00....Thank you GW.

I'm back!

Wow, check this out. If this pot could talk the tales we'd hear. I'll have to do a little research to find out more. Share w/me if you have the history on this jem. OK, $6.00 at GW.
Happy hunting. I had a ball in the bin the other night. It was piled high w/ name brand summer shorts, Gap, Banana Republic, J Crew and Ann Taylor. All for $2.29 a piece. My daughter will love them!

Office Art

I hung my new painting at my office today. I had the perfect place plus it looks good w/ the wall color.
Yes, another GW bargain! I love looking through the frames. This item $35.00.

Spring coat!

I couldn't walk by this one. This Sigrid Olson coat was $12.00. A girl's got to have some FUN!

Storage containers

This storage container has handles and is brand new. You can label the front w/ anything you want.It's under $3.00 and that's the cost of a gift bag. The thrift stores are crowded these days but there's always a little treat. There are a few local retail stores that donate new merchandise to GW. Here is just a small example.

The Office Toy Chest.

Having toys in my office is a must. Keep those little ones busy while Mom and Dad write a contract on a new home. I can't wait to add "Tickle Me Elmo" to my treasure chest. This little guy cracks me up. In the current real estate market there are days when I could use a laugh. GW for a $3.00 laugh.

Sissel area rug

This 5x8 area rug is in mint condition. It would be great in a breakfast area or on a screen porch. I've seen them for over $100.00 but not this one, :)
It's headed for Craigslist!

Alabaster lamp

Don't forget to check out the lamps. This alabaster lamp was $9.99 w/ no shade at GW. I bought the shade at Lowe's the same day. It's a beauty.

I walked by this a few times. It will be lovely in my bathroom. I almost gave it to Ali, sorry Ali! I haven't been out in several days due to the Flu!
