Vintage Piece

OK this is the week!. Today is the end for donations! The GW parking lots are full. This treasure was seen on Old Wake Forest GW yesterday for $95.00. Someone will paint that and resell it for $225.00 or more.
If you are looking for items you'll be at the door when it opens or near the end of the day when they restock.

Happy New Year!

Happy Thrifting!

Antique Dresser

Just another run through! This beauty was $79.00! I bet their some folks in Historic Oakwood that would pay that and more!!
This is the time of year to scope it out. Remember when your dropping off for a last minute tax write off so is the rest of the town. I've seen amazing things this last week. This was at GW on 401 and New Hope Church...don't bother, I'm sure its gone now.

I was interviewed for a Real Trends blog on this site. She got most things right?!

Baskets!

How many of these have I bought? They usually are priced under $3.00. Baskets are great for gift giving. Right now one is sitting at a listing filled w/shoes! Looks much better than piled at the door.
I often give monogramed towels or pillows as closing gifts. These baskets are filled w/ tissue paper and gifts. Sometimes cleaning items, dinner, groceries or wine. It's so easy but the basket is special. The same price as a gift bag but so much more...

Make a Memory

My daughter, Ali and I made wreaths on Sat. night. The wreath frames are under $3.00 at most craft stores. Take a walk in the woods, create a gift and a memory!
If you'd rather a fake wreath. GW has them decorated or not! Check out the shelves of donated used Christmas decorations. Yesterday's treasure....for you today:)

Painters Canvas

BEAUTIFUL!!! Great idea...Old Queen Ann Chairs recovered in painters canvas! Check out Hunt and Gather on Bernard St. in Raleigh. The designer told me she added fabric softner to the paninters canvas. Once it dried she called her upholistery connection. They look amazing. I'm off to find the CANVAS!

Staging for Sellers!

This sweet seller needed help! I've hauled some furniture and accessories to this address. It was looking pretty good once the furniture was re-arranged in most rooms. This room had the bunk beds. That created a visual barrier. I had them separate the beds and off to Goodwill for a night stand...BINGO....$13.00 .... Sweet! The room looks so much better. Next time I'll take the before and after shots!

True confessions!

OK, sometimes it's the amazing frames that stop me. I used to live in Sausalito Ca. There was a frame shop just down the street. I had several of Dad's black and white photos framed. It used to cost me my paycheck! I'm sure you're been there too!
This Paris print is colorful and fun but wow what a frame.I'm sure that's why it was $14.99. That's a large price for Goodwill!

Coupons Queens!

The recent HT triple coupon day started last Wed. I've been hearing about coupon crazed ladies for way too long. I just had to investigate for myself. This is the ultimate in organization....
The book belongs to Kari B. I met her at HT doing her thing. She made the book herself. She buys 4 Sun. papers each week to "clip" her way to SAVINGS! She saves 40% on her groceries and was proud to share sites. There's couponmom.com and krazycouponlady.com.
Amanda K. told me she joined a fb group CarolinaCouponQueens. Ichecked it out too! That woman saved $90.00 this week and writes it up big time. She's at the store and in line by 7:00am as the sale clock starts. Poor Bea  wrote there were 35 women in line holding places for one another at 7:00. You don't want to be there in less you're a coupon queen...sleep-in, go later!
Another fb friend, Peggy F. lives in Fl. where they are STEALING newspapers for coupons, in the middle of the night!! They caught the thief on video, ran the clip on the evening news...caught in the act, "The COUPON BANDIT".
Watch out coupon ladies! Check the paper before you purchase. Raleigh could fall victim at anytime:)
As for me I still like Costco. I have thoughts of SCREAMING in the parking lot,"Does anyone want to SPLIT this up w/Me? Who needs a yrs. worth of TP?

European Prints

My photos can't capture the beauty of these 3 treasures. They are water color prints of European coastal towns.I found them yesterday at GW for $3.00 a piece. The artist name, too difficult to read and foreign. I'll have to continue my research!

They remind me of the trip I took last summer to the Southern France.
I looked through my photos and found one I took 7/2010 in Annecy, France. It sure looks like one of the towns in my new collection. What an incredible trip for me, France and Goodwill...what a MIX!

Table Display

Favorite things should be shared. I started collecting china on layovers in London years ago. The cup and saucer made the trip back. The plate and leather prayer book came from a tag sale in Chapel Hill. The hand painted dish $2.00 from GW.Beautiful cherry antique table w/spindel legs also that same tag sale.
Take it from me; "Buying a house, SIMPLE. Making it a HOME, takes time and that's the fun part!"

Deck Statement

A true gem for $65.00 on Craigslist. I'll enjoy playing with it to display my "white" collection for now.Next spring I'll see what will grow in there.

Buffet Display

I realized most of the glass and trey were collected second hand. Then I focused on the lamps. That's a story! I found them at a garage sale. They were old brass candlesticks. I had them made into lamps.

Cut glass for fun!

Cut glass is hitting the shelf at Goodwill and antique malls. Find an old tray as well and create a bathroom display. The glass makes a great container for bath salts.

Guest Room

I saw these headboards on Craigslist and had to have them! The room is coming together. The milk glass lamp and shade came from 2 different thrift shops. The "ribbon plates" were Mom's. How special is that...memories from Mom. The comforters and pillow shams from Tuesday morning.

Plant Stands!

OK, they are old "smoking toys". The left that one was an ash tray. On the right they called it a smoking stand. When it comes to wrought iron I call it my deck decor. They were both $5.00 a piece at GW.

Numbered print by Kim Parker

Wow, what a find!  Kim Parker is an internationally renowed textile designer, author, illustrator and painter. Her studio is in NYC.
She's be upset that I just paid $8.00 for this print at GW in Cary NC.
A great day of showing beautiful homes to a buyer in Cary. A quick run through and another treasure. You have to know where the GW's are located! Add the PTA thrift stores to your list when you get near Chapel Hill!

Jewelry too!

They decided to bring these out just prior to closing at GW. Things are slow then and they start to restock. One says Chico's on a small metal tag. They are such fun for $1.87 a piece!

Sweet chair!

How perfect! Just right for my desk. I'm back at GW and it was just $10.00. Lots of little treasures each and everyday. I found a nice little chest and thrilled when young buyers used it in their nursery.

Craigslist

What a find! This lantern is old and heavy. I found it on Craigslist. It's found a new home and what a great addition. Looking even better than the photo since I painted it.

Pillows too!

Decorative Pillows the easy way. I find them at GW and rip off the covers. That saves some $$$.Then I buy the outdoor fabric and drop them at my favorite upholstery shop...what fun!

White Stuff!

It's got to be white. Mostly goodwill...great accent pieces for a colorful deck.I'm an official collector:)

Deck decorating!

Wrought Iron of course! I found them at Revival on Capital. It's a great store. You can't believe the talent and ideas for repurposing old furniture. Check it out!

Contempory Lamp

I kept hearing about the latest Davis Dr. GCF so stopped last week on a quick trip to Cary. The photo doesn't do it justice. I do love the drum shade! Funny the prices are higher near Preston even at Goodwill.

I saw a kitchen redo this week that blew me away. They went to Ikea in Charlotte and did it all for under $5000. That included the appliances. I should have photographed the end result, sorry...next time!

Nine West Leather Coat!!!!

Wow! That's called perfect timing! A quick walk through my local GW. I brushed by it and felt the quality of the leather.I stopped dead in my tracks and grabbed it. It is amazing. The dry cleaner folks couldn't believe it was $15. I sure have enjoyed wearing it this Spring!!!!

Lovely Print

This was just too special to pass up.I'm into the listing mode w/ my real estate career. I've already promised this to a seller. It will be on the wall in her foyer for the first showing come March!
It was $12. and my seller is most appreciative! I love helping stage the houses.

Antique Mirror

Oh, my goodness, I'm excited about this treasure! It's 5ft. tall and very heavy. It's just resting on the table for now:). I love the mirror but now the lamp needs a replacement. It's always something as things evolve.
It was hung horizonally but vertical adds such drama to the wall. All this drama for $49.
